Full ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, cassis, black cherry and violet. Sweet on entry, then quite tight in the middle, with strong acidity keeping the dark berry flavors under wraps. Strong in extract but downright unformed today and in need of time. Tannic finish. Very hard to taste at present.

Cask sample. Nose is richer, riper and more voluptuous than Les Porrets. Freshly picked damsons but in no way overripe. Lots of spicy oak and a bit of vanilla in the middle. Firm deep-pile tannins and long fruit-laden finish with a surprising lightness at the end. (JH)
