Pineapple syrup, mango and wet stone on the atypically ripe nose. Supple, fat and highly concentrated, with unusually soft, exotic flavors of pineapple and mango, along with a hint of stoniness. Quite persistent but a tad warm on the finish.

Much more terroir-driven, the mineral and sea shell-scented 2003 Chablis Vaudesir (white) displays a structured personality that is light to medium-bodied, filled with flint, sea salt, shells, and stones. This well-crafted effort can be consumed over the next 8 years. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770
