Score 86/100 · Drink 2018-2022, Neal Martin, May 2019

The 2008 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a vivid, lively bouquet with white peach, citrus lemon and toffee-ish scents, although it seemed to degrade a little in the glass. The palate is honeyed on the entry with hints of rosewater infusing the citrus fruit, although it just runs out of ideas towards the finish and feels a little fatigued. Drink soon. Tasted at Sarah Marsh's 2008 White Burgundy tasting.

Tight nose hints at lemon, spices and stone. Juicy and high-pitched; much less pliant and open than the Charmes but very pure and intense, and long and firm on the aftertaste. This will need at least a few years of bottle aging.

Delicately smoky and nutty. Quite rich in fruit yet very crisp and mouthwatering. Arrow-like but not lean. (JH)
