Score 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2007

(from Napa and Mendocino fruit; a blend of merlot, cabernets franc and sauvignon, syrah and petit verdot) Medium ruby. Spicy black fruits and tar on the nose. Sweet, lush and seamless, but with good energy to the black fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. Today I see the wine's game-and-pepper syrah side. Finishes juicy and persistent, with a firm spine of acids and tannins.

Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2006-2011, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

Under the new Erna Schein label, the 2005 Jersey Boy (a cross county blend of fruit from Mendocino to Napa) is 41% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, and 6% Petit Verdot. Exhibiting a deep ruby/purple color along with extroverted aromas, soft tannins, plenty of black cherry and blackberry fruit, and full-bodied opulence, it is a soft, hedonistic fruit bomb to enjoy during its first 4-5 years of life.
