Score 93/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2016

The 2014 Letters to Europe is 75% Bien Nacido Syrah and 25% Larner Grenache. A classic, fruit-driven Paul Lato wine, the Letters to Europe wraps around the palate with serious depth and intensity. Hints of new leather, rose petal and exotic spices wrap around a core of rich, inky fruit. The 2014 is dark, sensual and totally enveloping. The new oak is on the high side, but that is a relatively small critique for a wine that delivers so much pure pleasure. This is the most powerful and overt of Paul Lato's Rhône-based reds.
