From St. Helena in Napa, the Cabernet Sauvignons were tasted too late for the big Napa report published in the October issue. Both are nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon with a small dosage of Petit Verdot that come from a vineyard on Glass Mountain planted in Obsidian and clay soils. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Hommage is another animal altogether. It reminded me of some of the Araujo Cabernets. Floral, black raspberry and black currant notes intermixed with a touch of new oak are followed by terrific fruit on the attack, mid-palate and finish. This impressive, full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for 15 or more years. (Not yet released) This new small project has hired Luc Morlet as their consultant. Tel. (713) 256-9169
