Score 89/100 · Drink 1996-1998, Robert Parker, Dec 1996

Few readers ever get to taste Spottswoode's Sauvignon Blanc as much of it is sold to restaurants. It has become one of California's more interesting Sauvignons. The 1995 displays a white Graves-like personality, good aromatics, excellent freshness, plenty of oaky, waxy, melony fruit, and an underpinning of crisp acidity. It should be consumed during its first several years of life. Tel. (707) 963-0134; Fax (707) 963-2886

About the producer

Spottswoode
Spottswoode

Spottswoode is one of those rare Napa estates whose reputation rests less on volume or spectacle than on persistent exactitude. Set on the western edge of St Helena, where the Mayacamas rise and afternoon breezes temper the valley’s warmth, the vineyard occupies a favoured pocket of the appellation.
