2005 Domaine Gérard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Cuvée Unique Grand Cru

Good full red. Superripe aromas of musky strawberry, plum, tar and chocolate, with a medicinal note of cough syrup. Broad, large-scaled and sweet but youthfully brooding, with slightly sullen flavors of maraschino cherry, chocolate and tar. This very young and bound-up wine shows a liqueur-like ripeness and finishes with a fine dusting of tannins. Still stunned by the bottling.
