Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2015

Keplinger's 2012 Caldera is delicious and quite open. Sweet herbs, rose petals, mint, sage and licorice lift out of the glass before the wine fleshes out on the palate, showing its deep, radiant fruit. This gorgeous, impeccably balanced Mourvedre-based red is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years.

(a blend of mourvedre, grenache and counoise): Good full red. Black raspberry, dark cherry, bitter chocolate and a whiff of bloody steak on the nose. Pliant and full on the palate, showing much more obvious sweetness than the 2011 offering. Dark berry and spice flavors retain their sweetness through the broad, long, lightly saline finish. Boasts rather powerful tannins for this bottling but has the mid-palate texture to support them.
