The 2002 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard displays a medium to deep garnet hue and a seriously earthy/meaty nose of tilled soil, charcuterie, chargrill and fungi with a core blueberry pie, raspberry tart, spice cake and tapenade plus a waft of Chinese five spice. Full-bodied and completely packed with decadent savory, exotic spice and berry preserves layers, it has a velvety texture and amazingly refreshing finish.

Dark medium ruby. Explosive aromas of black raspberry, game, truffle, smoked meat and roasted nuts. Dense, thick and superripe, with highly concentrated black raspberry and tarry flavors. Boasts an impressive core of liqueur-like fruits without coming across as particularly vibrant. A major mouthful of zinfandel, but more gamey and roasted than berry-driven.
