Tasting notes
Pale to medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard gives up wonderfully fragrant kirsch, raspberry preserves, potpourri, dried roses and oolong tea notes with hints of incense, dusty soil and bay leaves. Full-bodied and full-on sultry with tons of perfumed fruit and a plush texture, it finishes with lovely harmony and plenty of depth. 191 cases produced.

Exuberant and racy, the 2016 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard will appeal most to readers who enjoy the more flamboyant side of Zinfandel. Despite its considerable intensity, the 2016 remains light on its feet, aromatic and very nicely delineated.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
