Score 94/100 · Drink 2017-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015

A great example of the vintage at its best, the 2012 Proprietary Red Wine exudes richness and voluptuousness. A host of sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint and spices notes open up, with expressive aromatics that add a gorgeous top register. The positive reputation of the vintage is built on wines like this that offer tremendous radiance and near term appeal. This is a gorgeous wine from Carte Blanche and winemaker Luc Morlet.

The 2012 Proprietary Red was made from the same blend, but yields were much higher. Both wines should drink well for 6-8 years. Both the 2011 and 2012 Cabernet Sauvignons are blends of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. In this case, the 2012 clearly outperforms the 2011. (Not yet released) This new operation that hired talented winemaking consultant Luc Morlet is fashioning an assortment of reds and whites, including a Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend, Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, Syrahs and Cabernet Sauvignons. www.carteblanchewine.com
