Tasting notes
The 2021 Grenache Ora et Labora Bien Nacido Vineyard comes from 17-year-old Alban clone vines and was matured for 19 months in 25% new French oak. It has slowly unfurling aromas of black cherry and plum, lilac and lavender, plus touches of blood orange, mushroom and tobacco. The full-bodied palate is hedonistic with highly concentrated, fragrant flavors framed by powdery tannins, and its mouthwatering acidity and floral finish call you back to the glass for another sip. 100 cases were made.

The 2021 Grenache Bien Nacido Vineyard Ora et Labora is exuberant bright and effusive, with plenty of Grenache character. At this stage, the wine feels disjointed though, as if aromatics, fruit and structure are inhabitants of separate realms. This could be quite good if it comes together.
Lots of black cherry liqueur, roasted herbs, licorice, and floral notes emerge from the 2021 Grenache Ora et Labora Bien Nacido Vineyard, a 100% Grenache that was destemmed and brought up in 25% new French oak. It's easily one of the finest Grenache releases I've tasted from Lato and is medium to full-bodied, with beautiful richness and depth and a great finish. It will evolve for a decade.
