The 2006 Grand Vin is a blend of 85% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot aged for 16 months in new French oak. The nose exhibits pain grille, scorched earth, spice box, plum, and black cherry. This leads to an elegantly-styled wine with excellent depth, concentration, and intensity. It has several years of aging potential and should be at its best from 2012 to 2026. Fabre Montmayou is owned by Domaine Vistalba with startup in 1992. A vineyard that was planted in 1908 was purchased in the Vistalba region of Mendoza. In addition, Paul Hobbs has just been signed on as a consultant. Importer: Sommelier Imports, New York, NY; tel.
