There are only 250 cases and it comes from what appears to be the finest vintage of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon between 2007 and 2012. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with notes of charcoal, white chocolate and creme de cassis, a full-bodied opulence, impeccable purity, decent acidity and ripe tannin that nicely frames the wine. This serious, rich Cabernet Sauvignon is as exceptional as one would expect from this winemaking genius. I suppose it would happen sooner or later, but Michel Rolland, who is a consulting winemaker for Beaulieu, Realm, Alpha Omega, Screaming Eagle, Dancing Hares, Quintessa, Staglin, Dalla Valle, Bryant Family Vineyard, Bond, Harlan Estate and Sloan, is debuting his first Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. By the way, an often heard criticism of Rolland is that “all his wines taste the same.” I have refuted this absurd statement time and time again in the past, and, as you can see from his list of Napa clients, the wines could not be more different from each other. An accurate observation about Rolland is that his wines’ quality levels are always world-class and among the finest that exist. All of the above mentioned clients’ wines demonstrate that convincingly. In short, he has no formula, and simply wants producers to make the best they can from their specific vineyards. End of argument. No telephone number available.

Michel Rolland's 2010 Red Wine a Cabernet Sauvignon impresses for its persistence and balance. Soft, silky and generous for the year, the 2010 boasts terrific purity and tons of textural finesse. Dark raspberries, plums, mint and licorice all wrap around the inviting finish. This is an especially soft, supple wine for the year. At the same time, there is gorgeous freshness in the glass as the wine become more and more expressive over time.
