Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard, which comes from a site just in front of Colgin, on Pritchard Hill, is a big, muscular wine loaded with ripe cassis and blue fruits as well as chalky minerality, chocolate, and lead pencil-like aromas and flavors. It's a rich, powerful Cabernet, yet like all great wines, stays beautifully balanced, has remarkable freshness, and a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming two decades. 75 cases.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard is a dark, brooding wine. A blast of wild cherry, chocolate, spice, menthol, licorice and gravel makes a strong first impression. The tannins are pretty forbidding in the early going, so readers should plan on being patient. This is a tiny blend of just 75 barrels. Not surprisingly, the oak signature is a bit more prominent than in some of the other wines. The 2019 is a real powerhouse.
Another gorgeous wine in the range, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard is inky, creamy and super-expressive right out of the gate. There's real textural depth and resonance here. Deep savory and mineral notes round out this potent hillside Cabernet. The 2019 is wonderfully complex and so promising as a barrel sample.
