Tasting notes
(a blend based on 50% carinena; aged for a year in new Allier oak) Bright, deep ruby-red. Enticing aromas of bitter cherry, violet and sexy oak. Dense, sweet and deep, with a medicinal cast to the dark fruit and floral flavors. A creamy wine with a lovely sugar/acid balance and solid underlying spine. Finishes with dusty, fine tannins, but there's also a bit of youthful bitterness from the oak. .

The 2003 Costers, is a blend of 50% old vine Carignan and younger vine Merlot, Syrah, and Grenache. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by earthy, leathery notes, moderate tannin, and considerable structure and precision. More artisinal in style than its two siblings (no doubt due to the old vine Carignan), this impressively endowed 2003 should drink well for a decade.
