Score 93/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 2006

The 2004 Zinfandel Bacigalupi is a surprisingly lighter styled Zinfandel, with elegance but little depth and intensity. The acids are jolting, and the wine just doesn’t have the meat and flesh to back up the skeleton. I don’t think this will age terribly well. Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546

(15.2% alcohol) Deep ruby-red. Sweet black raspberry and graphite on the nose. Superconcentrated and penetrating in the mouth, with a sappy sweetness and a rather powerful supporting structure to the raspberry and currant flavors. Conveys an impression of rather strong acidity. Finishes very long, sappy and ripe, with terrific freshness. This has great fruit, but the acids will require a couple of years to harmonize.
