Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Robert Parker, Dec 2014

The 2012 Pinot Noir Moonshine Ranch (made from Dijon clones 113, 114 and 115) reminds me of a premier cru from the Côte de Beaune. Abundant aromas of pomegranates, red and black cherries, redcurrants and loamy, earth undertones jump from the glass of this medium to full-bodied, silky textured Pinot. It should drink well early in life, and keep for 7-10 years.

Bright ruby-red. Smoky dark berries, potpourri and mocha on the perfumed nose. Sweet and expansive, offering round black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors and a touch of candied rose. Shows very good clarity on the spice-accented finish, which is framed by silky, harmonious tannins. This wine is carrying a heady 15.3% alcohol but doesn't come off warm, at least to my palate.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
