Score 88/100 · Drink 2006-2009, Robert Parker, Jun 2006

The 2003 Vieux-Os Zinfandel Tofanelli (70-year-old vines) is an attractive, easygoing Zin with good plumpness, a savory underbrush and cherry-scented nose, briery currant fruit in the mouth, and an earthy, peppery finish. It hides its 16.1% alcohol well. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Tel. (707) 942-1115

(16.1% alcohol) Ruby-red. Superripe aromas of liqueur-like red and black berries, licorice and mint, with hints of rhubarb and baking spices. Dense, pliant and juicy, with rather exotic flavors. Finishes with big, ripe, slightly dry-edged tannins and some alcoholic warmth.
