Tasting notes
Muskmelon and Persian melon garlanded in musky peony and decadent lily deliver a heady aromatic message and lusciously inform a glycerol-rich, waxy palate. This finishes with soothing, prominently sweet persistence. Like the corresponding Kabinett, it strikes me as well worth cellaring. Serving it today calls for circumstances to which the wine’s sweetness and self-sufficiency are suited, which probably means solo.

The 2015 Riesling Spätlese Gimmeldingen Mandelgarten is ripe and intense on the nose, and shows nice mineral flavors. Very sweet and light, with a piquant acidity and a good mineral grip on the palate, this is a generous Spätlese with tension, length and stimulating phenols.
