This "one-star" bottling is in a class by itself among the Selbachs’ 2015 vintage Auslesen. Tropical richness of mango and pineapple is married on the nose to site-typical smokiness and a background of wet stone. On the buoyant, polished palate and superbly sustained finish, the vibrant combination of effusive fruit with smoky, alkaline and ashen counterpoint as well as saliva-liberating salinity is compelling and complete.

The 2015 Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Auslese * is super clear and flinty on the nose, with smoky/dusty flavors of crushed stones and very clear pineapple aromas. The wine shows a great finesse and elegance on the palate, is lush and perfectly ripe, as well as piquant, firmly structured, very salty and long in the tension-filled finish. This is an aristocratic Auslese of great precision, finesse and elegance; it is probably the finest Auslese of the vintage at Selbach-Oster. The finish is so pure and endlessly salty!
