Score 90/100 · Drink 2013-2018, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2013

The 2000 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a delightful millennial offering from the Rousseau team, though it already shows some maturity in the glass. It has an open-knit, slightly herbaceous bouquet with light red berries, stewed black tea and dried herbs. The palate is underpinned by crisp acidity, a ferrous note at the beginning that runs through right to the end. It is fresh and poised, a little disjointed upon first acquaintance, but coalescing as the minutes pass. This is delightful, if not profound. Drink now-2018.

Full, lively, jewelly and yet quite savoury enough to save it from being too much of a good thing. (JR)
