Tasting notes
One of my favorite Pinots in the lineup, the 2012 Pinot Noir The Prospect Sierra Madre Vineyard offers fabulously ripe aromas of black cherries, framboise, sweet spices, vanilla bean and spring flowers that continue to evolve with time in the glass. Rich, textured and seamless on the palate, with a solid mid-palate and a seamless, silky texture that covers polished tannin and integrated acidity, it’s hard to resist now, but will continue to evolve nicely over the coming 5-7 years, possibly longer. One of my favorite producers in the Central Coast, Paul Lato continues to make thrilling Pinot Noirs and Syrahs that have texture, richness and depth while never seeming heavy or cumbersome. These are gorgeous wines across the board and you can’t go wrong here. Tel. (805) 260-3210; www.paullatowines.com

Dark red and black fruit, graphite, game, savory herbs and menthol flesh out in the 2012 Pinot Noir The Prospect Sierra Madre Vineyard. There is good depth to the flavors, athough, here, too, some of the customary depth and focus is missing.
