The 2015 Pinot Noir The Prospect Sierra Madre Vineyard is polished and sensual from the very first taste. Plump and juicy, but also light on its feet, it has a level of finesse and subtlety that is quite rare in this vintage. Bright, saline notes infuse the tightly wound finish. I would prefer to cellar the 2015 for a year or two.

The 2015 Pinot Noir The Prospect Sierra Madre Vineyard has a pale ruby-purple color and delivers intense cherry cordial, raspberry pie and baking spice notes over a black pepper and dried Provence herb background with a hint of mossy bark. Medium-bodied, elegantly styled and with delicate earth and spice notes accenting the restrained red fruits, it has a fine-grained frame and persistent peppery suggestions on the finish.
The 2015 Pinot Noir The Prospect Sierra Madre Vineyard is another Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir from Paul and this was aged 15 months in 45% new French oak. Slightly deeper ruby colored than the Duende, it offers more framboise, black cherry, earth and forest floor aromas and flavors, a silky, layered texture, high, yet integrated acidity and fine tannin. It excels in the more firm, focused style of the vintage and will keep for a decade or more. Paul Lato is unquestionably one of my favorite winemakers in the Central Coast, and I continue to love his wines. While I found 2015 to be a difficult vintage, you wouldn’t know it by tasting through this lineup.
