Score 97/100 · Drink 2018, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2018

The GSM of the estate, the 2015 Veracity checks in as 47% Grenache, 34% Mourvèdre, and 19% Syrah that was brought up in a mix of concrete tanks, neutral barrels, and 24% new barrels. Deep ruby/purple-colored, with a kaleidoscope of blackberries, leafy herbs, pepper, underbrush, and spice aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with awesome purity of fruit, building richness, and ultra-fine tannins. It’s a tour de force in Rhône blends from California that I wish every reader could taste. Superstar winemaker Jordan Fiorentini continues to keep Epoch Estate near the top of the peak in Paso Robles, and these latest 2015s and 2016s are some of the finest wines I’ve tasted from her. These are classic Paso Robles Rhône blends that mix the best of California sun and richness with a sense of purity, elegance, and balance. Don’t miss them!

(17% whole clusters; raised in a combination of concrete tank and new and used French oak barrels of varying size) Deep lurid ruby. Intense red and blue fruit preserve and floral aromas, along with hints of cola, vanilla and exotic spices. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering intense boysenberry and raspberry flavors underscored by a vein of juicy acidity. Rich and broad but lively as well, showing excellent clarity and a bitter chocolate nuance on the strikingly long, youthfully tannic finish.

A blend of 47% Grenache, 34% Mourvèdre and 19% Syrah, the 2015 Veracity Proprietary Red reveals aromas of ripe plums, cassis, rose petal and exotic spice, framed by a subtle touch of new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with lots of crunchy, concentrated fruit and a formidable chassis of rich tannin and extract, concluding with a long, youthfully chewy finish. Cellar it for another year or two, preferably longer.
