Score 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2014

(includes 12% malbec, 9% cabernet franc and 9% petit verdot; 50% new oak): Inky ruby. Aromas of blackcurrant, dried cherry, pipe tobacco and vanilla, with a smoky topnote that becomes more pronounced with air. Offers broad dark fruit flavors enlivened by a peppery quality and a gentle mineral nuance. Chewy tannins give grip to the persistent finish, which leaves bitter chocolate and espresso notes behind.
