Tasting notes
Revisiting the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has barely budged in a year of evolution. The wine exhibits a dark ruby/purple color and an impressive nose of toasty oak and sweet black currants intermixed with licorice and camphor, as well as a touch of graphite. Lead pencils shavings are also present. The wine has outstanding fruit, full body, ripe but generous tannin, and a rather flamboyant, opulent personality, much in keeping with the style of this vintage. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. This limited production offering of approximately 400-450 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is made by consultant Mark Herold for proprietor Kevin Carrikar. Virtually all of the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the cool-climate, higher elevation vineyards in Napa’s sector of Coombsville. Tel. (707) 738-8742; Fax (707) 258-1416

Saturated, bright ruby. Grapey aromas of crushed cassis, blackberry and licorice. Dense, sweet and full; broadens out impressively toward the back half and saturates the palate with dark fruit flavors. Relies as much on its firm spine of acidity as on its very fine tannins for structure.
