Score 95/100 · Drink 2026-2036, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jun 2024

The 2021 Oublié Ext takes time to evolve in the glass. Swirling brings forward a blend of dried violets, licorice, crushed rocks and blackberries. This is silky-smooth and quite polished in feel. Savory to the core, it boasts cooling acidity and crisp wild berry fruits that cascade across the palate. The 2021 finishes with tremendous length and a zing of sour citrus that lights up the palate as grippy tannins grumble on. The Oublié Ext spent 22 months maturing in 50% new 500-liter barrels.

The 2021 Oublié is a blend of 41% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 27% Mourvèdre and 1% Tannat matured for 18 months in 50% new French oak. It has layered aromas of maraschino cherry, blueberry, aniseed, thyme and juniper, continually unfurling as it spends time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate boasts pure, fragrant fruit nestled into an ethereal frame of clay-textured tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a very long finish laced with alluring botanical undertones. This is dangerously easy to drink without sacrificing complexity! 2,000 cases were made.

41% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 27% Mourvèdre, 1% Tannat. 18 months in 50% new French oak (mix of 500, 300 and 228 litres). RS 0.48 g/l. 2,000 cases produced. Organic. Tasted blind. Deep purple in colour. Savoury, juicy and touch reduced on the nose – like crushed gravel and char with blackberry and guava. Really intriguing. Fresh, mouth-watering acidity on the palate, vanilla oak character and powdery fine tannin. Juicy, fresh finish. Very young and vibrant still – this will improve with age. (SCJ)

The 2021 Oublié from this great estate checks in as a blend of 41% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 27% Mourvèdre, and a splash of Tannat. This straight-up seamless beauty offers a killer array of darker berry fruits, peppery herbs, licorice, and underbrush to go with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered, seamless style on the palate that’s hard to resist. The balance is spot on, and it has fine tannins as well as a great finish. I'd be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming 7-8 years and certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve longer.
