Score 90/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Robert Parker, Oct 2015

The new releases include the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Caravina, which is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot. From younger vines and less-concentrated lots of wine, it is their biggest cuvée of nearly 1,900 cases. The wine is only about 40% new French oak. The 2013 is outstanding, with a deep purple color, a sweet nose of chocolate, dusty, loamy soil notes, a touch of roasted herbs, silky tannins and a medium to full-bodied, very sexy and lush style. Drink over the next 12-15+ years.

Seavey's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Caravina is one of the very finest values in Napa Valley. Supple, radiant and expressive, the 2013 is a pure joy to taste, as it expresses plenty of site-specific nuance in a more approachable style than the estate's flagships. Bright red cherry, plum, spice, mint, licorice and sweet floral notes meld into the soft, open-knit finish. This is a real overachiever, especially for the price.
