Pale, bright yellow. Inviting perfumed aromas of orange and lemon zest lifted by spices. Enters the mouth with orange oil and butter but turns harder on the back half, showing some slightly disjointed acidity that needs time to harmonize with the wine's fruit. This was quite backward from barrel a year ago and it is similarly firm-edged today. Boyer's wines are located at the top of the vineyard, next to a quarry.

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrieres has a very backward nose that refuses to budge, despite vigorous coaxing (though I found this to be not unusual during my tastings.) The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, intense lightly honeyed fruit, but like this domaine’s other 2013s, it will need three or four years to open.

Tangerine and some exotic oak on the nose. Then surprisingly tight and high-pitched on the palate, with pungent minerality keeping the peach and orange flavors under wraps today. Very firmly built and evolving slowly in barrel.
