2021 Chateau Boswell Pinot Noir Absolutely Eloise Rita's Crown Vineyard

The 2021 Pinot Noir Absolutely Eloise Rita's Crown is a terrific wine from the site. It offers tons of fruit intensity and volume, both of which come easily here. Dark cherry, plum, spice and mocha all build in the glass. I find the oak imprint a bit strong given what this vineyard can do, but this wine is undeniably well balanced. I would be very happy to see more Rita's Crown wines from Boswell.

Coming from a terrific site on the western end of the Sta. Rita Hills, the 2021 Pinot Noir Rita's Crown Vineyard was hand-harvested and hand-sorted then destemmed before spending 14 months in French oak. Exotic red (and even some blue) fruits, flowers, crushed stone, iron, and black tea all emerge from the glass, and this medium-bodied Pinot Noir has a focused, elegant mouthfeel, plenty of ripe tannins, beautiful balance, and outstanding length. Closed and tight today, it needs a solid 2-3 years of bottle age and will evolve for well over a decade.
