Score 91-92/100 · Drink 1998-2013, Robert Parker, Dec 1998

The outstanding 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Ink Grade exhibits a saturated purple color, followed by a fragrant nose of exotic black fruits (blueberries and cassis). In the mouth, subtle doses of attractive floral notes, spice, and vanillin emerge. This multi-layered wine possesses sweet tannin, a voluptuous texture, and superb concentration and purity. It is a sexy, opulently-styled Cabernet Sauvignon to drink when released and over the next 15 years. As the wine sat in the glass, the blueberry/blackberry liqueur aspect became even more pronounced, making this wine totally disarming. Readers are well-advised to get on Behrens and Hitchcock's mailing list as a large percentage of their small production is sold via this route. Tel. 707-963-1774; Fax 707-963-8206
