The 2020 Graciano is fabulous. Dark, dense and explosive, the Graciano is once again superb in 2020. Bacon fat, plum, black cherry, gravel, sage and menthol infuse the 2020 with tremendous character as well as nuance. What a wine. I love the energy here. Sadly, production is tiny. The blend is 88% Graciano and 12% Syrah, done with 47% stems and aged for about 34 months in barrel, 72% new. I would buy every bottle I can my hands on!

Based on 88% Graciano and 12% Syrah, the inky hued 2020 Graciano saw 47% whole cluster and spent 33.5 months in 72% new French oak. It has a full-bodied, tannic, structured style and gorgeous ripe black cherry and plum fruits as well as ground pepper, new leather, scorched earth and hints of iron. Deep, rich, and massively concentrated, with lots of tannins, this behemoth of a Graciano that needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will knock your socks off over the following 20 years.

The 2020 Graciano, entirely from The Third Twin estate vineyard, is blended with 12% Syrah. It was vinified using 47% whole clusters and matured for nearly 34 months in 72% new French oak barrels. Although I tasted it on July 6, not long after its bottling on April 27, it was nonetheless expressive and complex, with a wildness and rusticity that seems to define this grape at its best. It has an opaque ruby color and explosive aromas reminiscent of blueberries, blood orange, violet, clove and fresh tobacco leaves. The full-bodied palate is youthfully concentrated and floral. Its tannins have a pleasant touch of bite to match that density, and it maintains its freshness.
