The 2019 Extra-Brut Le Mont des Chrétiens (magnum) is laced with hints of apricot, dried flowers, chamomile, spice and a hint of tropical fruit. There's just a touch of reduction, but not enough to be intrusive. I find the 2019 a bit quite reticent today, surprisingly so for the generally exuberant style of the year, but this bottle was also disgorged just a few weeks before my visit. I expect to see more textural richness over time. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: February 4, 2026.

The 2019 Écueil Le Mont des Chrétiens (Wineglobe), tasted from magnum, was vinified entirely in glass globe and disgorged in January 2025 with a dosage of two grams per liter. Opening with exotic floral aromas, orange zest and crisp green apple, complemented by notes of freshly baked bread, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, ample and concentrated. It offers a rich core of fruit, supported by a vibrant spine of acidity, culminating in a long, chalky finish. It’s unsurprising that this normally reliable cuvée will return to oak vinification in its next release, as this rendition, while focused and precise, lacks the depth and structure of its 2020 counterpart.

The 2019 Extra-Brut Le Mont des Chrétiens Wineglobe (magnum) is sublime. Hints of lemon peel, white flowers, marzipan and light tropical inflections are striking. But what I am most struck by is the incredibly refined mousse. The textures here are just sublime. Readers lucky enough to find the 2019 are in for a real treat. This is an exceptional Champagne from Fred Savart. These magnums were all aged on the cork. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2024.

The 2019 Extra-Brut Le Mont des Chrétiens Wine Globe (magnum) is a new wine from Fred Savart, in that this version is vinified in 225-liter glass globes. That yields a Champagne that straddles the line between Champagne and still wine. The mousse is incredibly fine to the point of being nearly non-existent. Bright citrus, white flowers, mint, chalk and white pepper all grace this exquisite, nuanced Champagne. Disgorged: February 2023.
