Tasting notes
(from Calistoga fruit plus a bit of Peterson Ranch) Deep, saturated ruby. Wild, superripe black fruit, meat and pepper aromas perked up by a violet topnote. Supersweet and lush but with plenty of tannic support for the powerful, slightly raisiny dark berry flavors. At once denser and sweeter than the Pepperland, but with no shortage of energy. The huge, dusty tannins coat the front teeth. A chewy, no-holds-barred petite sirah that's worth laying down.

The 2006 Petite Sirah Muscleman’s blue/black color is accompanied by a sweet nose of blueberries, blackberries, and background oak. Thick, juicy, rich, and highly extracted, with no bitterness, this enormously endowed Petite Sirah requires 5-6 years of cellaring, and should be drunk over the following 20-25. Impressive! Now that the highly talented Robert Foley is no longer the full-time winemaker at Pride Mountain Vineyards, he appears to be focusing on his own label as well as consulting for other wineries. Tel.
