The 2007 Zinfandel Papera Vineyard offers up abundant aromas of black raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Medium to full-bodied, it is not as expressive as its three siblings, but it is still very promising. Cellar this top-notch Zin over the next year or so, and enjoy it over the following 7-8. The single vineyard Pinot Noirs are made from a wide range of California vineyards, primarily in the north, with Russian River and Sonoma Coast dominating, but there is also an Anderson Valley site (Ferrington), San Benito site (Vista Verde), and Yorkville Highlands (Weir). Deep ruby color. Intense, floral-accented aromas of raspberry, cherry, anise and black tea. Extremely fresh in the mouth, offering sweet red berry preserve flavors and a supple texture. Becomes juicier with air, picking up a tangy note of blood orange. The finish repeats the sweet red fruit notes and hangs on impressively.

Williams Selyem is an iconic Russian River Valley winery best known for its Pinot Noir. Producing restrained yet classically Californian expressions of the heartbreak grape (as well as a host of other wines), the property has gone from pioneer to one of the region’s standard-bearers.
