Tasting notes
The 2020 In The Hills (a co-fermented blend of 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier matured for fourteen months in 15% new barrels) lifts up with an earthy blend of seared meat, animal musk, rosemary and olive tapenade. It's round and soothing on the palate, with a silky textural wave of ripe red and black fruits underscored by saline minerals and spice. Syrah leaves a smoky sensation - not taint - tapering off with sweet tannins that frame the experience nicely as nuances of licorice fade. It's a wonderfully complete wine.

The 2020 Syrah In The Hills is another wildly aromatic wine from Matt Reynvaan. Blackberries, bloody blue fruits, iron, peppery herbs, and violet notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, elegant, focused mouthfeel, plenty of fine tannins, and a great finish. It needs 2-4 years in the cellar, but it’s terrific.
