Tasting notes
(13.7%; vinified with 30% whole clusters): Dark ruby-red. Flinty, Rhône-like aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, licorice, game and black pepper. Dry, juicy, rather understated wine with raspberry, leather and meat flavors conveying a distinctly savory quality. Still quite tightly wound owing to its sound acidity and firm dusty tannins. Best today for its aromatics: Reynvaan noted that the 2015 version of this wine is fatter and riper--"more New World in style."

I continue to love the 2014 Syrah In The Hills, and this blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier comes from the estate vineyard (Foothills In The Sun) located around the cellar. Its deep ruby color is followed by a terrific perfume of incense, ripe black raspberries, smoked meat and olive brine. Medium to full-bodied, silky and elegant on the palate, it's just another gorgeous, impeccably made wine from this estate.
