Tasting notes
Up with the crème de la crème of the vintage, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is pure Napa gold, offering a sensational nose of cassis and blueberry fruits as well as incredible purity in its violet, sappy herb, tobacco, and spring flower-like aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness and depth on the palate, it has perfect tannins, a great mid-palate, and one heck of a finish. While I suspect the acidity is quite low, it holds onto a terrific sense of freshness and is just a thrilling, singular wine that would be impossible to find outside of the magical valley. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 15+ years. There are 1,200 cases produced.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is composed of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps with vibrant wild blueberries, warm cassis and boysenberries scents, plus touches of garrigue, crushed rocks and fragrant earth. The full-on, full-bodied palate offers generous black fruits and an earthy undercurrent, framed by soft, approachable tannins, finishing with fantastic length.
Cade's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a sumptuous, savory wine. Crème de cassis, lavender, rose petal, spice, sweet new oak and incense all build effortlessly in the glass. The aromatics alone are totally beguiling. A dollop of Malbec (4%) adds lushness and texture. Here, too, the contours are pretty soft for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. (AG)
