Tasting notes
Picked on the 5th of December, the 2016 Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Eiswein (AP 14 17) has a very clear and concentrated bouquet of pineapples and weathered slate. Sweet yet piquant and elegant on the palate, this is a highly finessed and salty-piquant picture-book ice wine with lingering salinity and grip. This is super precise and perfectly balanced. Tasted February 2018.

Picked on December 5, this leads with a high-toned, penetratingly prickly nose of lemon peel and fresh ginger. On the palate, it delivers a lemon-meringue-like combination of piercingly bright, juicy fresh lemon with custardy rich vanilla and lemon cream. The ensuing tension is invigorating if not entirely harmonious. A glaze of quince and apple jelly adds another layer of flavor to a finish of rapier persistence.
