Pretty floral aromatics of rose potpourri and savoury accents carry into notes of conifer, hints of spice, and touches of cracked pepper on the palate. Slightly fuller bodied than the La Neblina with no sweetness, and no heaviness, the Terra Neuma offers creamy while persistent tannin, good acidity, and a long finish. (ECB)

The 2012 Pinot Noir Terra Neuma comes from a biodynamically farmed vineyard and 10% whole clusters were used (in contrast to the Savoy which had no whole clusters). From a cold area of the Sonoma Coast, it possesses elegant pomegranate, red currant and plum-like notes intermixed with forest floor and a distinct earthy character. With excellent ripeness as well as a Pommard premier cru-like, Burgundian style, it should drink well for 5-7 years.

(10% whole clusters and 50% new oak): Vibrant ruby. Seductively perfumed nose displays red berry liqueur, incense and potpourri aromas with complicating suggestions of vanilla and cola. Juicy, expansive and pure on the palate, offering sweet cherry, raspberry and candied rose flavors and a strong note of spicecake. Shows real energy on the youthfully tannic finish, with the red berry and floral notes lingering with outstanding tenacity.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Terra Neuma is similar to the Platt in its flavor profile, with perhaps just a little less exuberance. Dark blue/purplish fruit, cloves, violets and lavender all take shape in a forward, juicy Pinot with tons of near and medium term appeal. Hints of white pepper and orange peel add an element of exoticism and pure aromatic lift. I very much like the sense of energy here. If some of the angular contours soften, the 2012 may be even better than this note suggests.
