Another explosive, voluptuous wine, the 2012 Cemetery emerges from a top site next to the St. Helena cemetery, hence its name. The radiant, supple style of the year comes through loud and clear. Sweet red cherry, plum, mint, spice and new leather lead to the succulent, inviting finish. I imagine the 2012 will drink well upon release.

One of my favorite Behrens cuvées year-in and year-out is their Cabernet Sauvignon Cemetery. From a vineyard adjacent to a cemetery, the dense ruby/purple-hued 2012 exhibits lots of crème de cassis, blueberry and raspberry notes, medium to full body, a gravelly terroir character, and a full-bodied, opulent finish. This is a glorious, potentially complex Cabernet Sauvignon that prove to be long-lived. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.
