Score 17.5/20 · Drink 2026-2040, Jancis Robinson MW, Apr 2024

Full bottle 1,318 g. 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc . Aged for 19 months in 14% new French oak. Confident. Composed nose followed by luscious, flattering fruit that leads to a bone-dry, appetising finish. Very much in its infancy currently. Ambitious. (JR)

Full bottle 1,311 g.  Aged for 19 months in French oak, 50% new. Deep purple. Concentrated macerated berries, mocha and lilac. Fine sandy tannin and fresh, precise acidity slowly spread across the palate building on layers of spice and salinity. Crushed stone on the finish. (SCJ)

There are two Cabernet Sauvignons from Gallica, both of which are made by Rosemary Cakebread. Starting with the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, it checks in as a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Cabernet Franc. Blackcurrants, ripe tobacco, cedary herbs, violets, and hints of black olives all emerge on the nose, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's a classic Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk any time over the coming 15-20 years. I love it even today.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate emerges from a tiny vineyard planted to Clone 4 Cabernet on St. George rootstock. Ample, deep and explosive, the 2021 possesses marvelous depth and textural intensity to burn. Readers will find a generous, heady Cabernet. Time in the glass brings out savory, earthy and mineral undertones that lend further complexity. This is such a vivid and expressive wine.
