Bright, medium ruby to the rim. Cassis, boysenberry, licorice and flowers on the nose. Plush, seamless and fleshy on entry, then utterly suave and mouthfilling in the middle palate, delivering fully ripe, layered, very deep flavors of dark berries, licorice and minerals complicated by coffee, mocha and dried herb nuances and lifted by a floral quality. Remarkably tactile, even full-blown, yet vibrant and delineated, finishing with substantial but plush tannins and building length. Very ripe and plush for this bottling, this wine is sweet enough to give great pleasure right now. I find it more accessible than the '09 was a year ago.

83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot. 19 months in 78% new French oak. Cooler vintage than 2009. Interesting leafy notes here, which gives greater interest and complexity to the nose than the 2009, yet there is tremendously rich fruit in support too. Finishes with seriously savoury notes. Sophisticated and rich and delicious. (RH)

So ripe it almost smells as though there is some Mourvèdre in here! Extremely sweet start and then it is rescued by some decent fairly integrated acidity but it sure isn’t appetising or savoury. Of its sort it succeeds. (JR)

Wonderful aromas of plum, blackberry and licorice. Full body with fine tannins and a pretty, subtle fruit and tannin structure. Needs two to three years to come together but already beautiful.
