The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (650 cases; 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is more supple, open-knit and flamboyant, revealing notes of espresso roast, chocolate, sweet red and black currants and loamy soil. This beautifully textured, opulent, showy Cabernet should drink well for 10-15 years. The high quality of the 2007 and 2008 vintages for Bordeaux varietals is clearly evidenced by these two offerings. Both wines demonstrate the personality of their particular vintage. Tel. Deep medium ruby. Cool mineral and licorice notes lift the aromas of black fruits and dark chocolate. Juicy, spicy and pliant on entry, then a bit tougher in the mid-palate, with moderately ripe flavors of dark berries and mint along with a suggestion of adhesive tape. This seems less rich and complex than a sample I tried from bottle a year ago, as well as a bit dry on the back. Perhaps passing through a stunted stage of its development.
Good ruby-red. Dark berries and dark chocolate on the almost liqueur-like nose and palate. Impressively lush in texture, with a superripeness verging on port-like. Best today on the finish, where the tannins appear to be smoother than those of the 2007. Quite promising.
