Tasting notes
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, sexy and beautiful. Sweet red berries, savory herbs, new leather, mint and wild flowers all meld together in a gracious, inviting Cabernet to drink now and over the next handful of years. Bright floral notes, rose petals and cinnamon appear on the finish, adding lift and precision. In 2011, the Napa Cabernet bottling includes all of the fruit from Corona, several barrels of Panek and Pellet. (AG)

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is gorgeous in this vintage. In 2011, the straight Napa Valley bottling also included the Corona, which Brown didn't feel was strong enough on its own, although it adds considerable mid-palate pliancy here. The 2011 boasts striking depth, radiance and balance, all in the mid-weight style of the year.

(Not yet released) Proprietors Thomas Rivers Brown and Genevieve Marie Welsh are among the most energetic and passionate young producers in Napa Valley. Although Brown also makes wines for a number of high-flying properties, he is more than happy to keep the prices of his own wines very reasonable, one of the many reasons Rivers-Marie is a mainstay in my cellar.
