Medium red. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, menthol and flowers; distinctly a Vosne-side version of Nuits. Then juicy and lively, with intense flavors of black fruits and licorice. Displays the taut side of the vintage, offering excellent cut and grip. There were a lot of tiny, thick-skinned grapes here, notes Clavelier. This needs a good seven or eight years in bottle.

(from 60-year-old vines) Good deep red. Currant, earth, smoke and licorice on the nose. Lively and bright, with excellent intensity, cut and backbone. Not fleshy but tight, solid and very young. Finishes long and firmly tannic. These tiny grapes produced barely 30 hectoliters per hectare in 2002.
