(I tasted this from a new barrel as the used ones had not yet finished their secondary fermentation; the ultimate blend will have 60% new oak): Good deep red. Aromas of red cherry, spices and crushed stone show a medicinal reserve. Juicy and penetrating, with a distinctly crunchy quality to the slightly tart cranberry and pomegranate flavors. This mineral-driven Corton is youthfully clenched today, even a bit dry. Méo may use a higher percentage of new oak in future vintages to sweeten this wine and allow for more breadth.
