The only bottle not from the titular vintage at the '62 dinner is the 2003 Montrachet Grand Cru, in remembrance of the late Fabrice Latour. It has a lovely, almost patisserie/frangipane-inflected bouquet. It’s quite generous, with a welcome spiciness emerging with aeration. The palate continues that theme with flecks of white chocolate and almond shavings. It is quite nutty in style, though I notice just a slight oxidation on the finish. Fine. Tasted at the 1962 dinner in Burgundy.

While aromatically muted, the 2003 Montrachet (white) reveals impressive depth to its oak-laced mineral flavors. Light to medium-bodied and silky-textured, this wine is concentrated, packed with savory notes, and possesses a long, silky finish. Projected maturity: now-2014. Maison Louis Latour has numerous importers across the United States.
